Hauling logs out of the wood pile I flipped one over and found 6 spider “skeletons”.
Not real bones. The hard outer covering — the exoskeleton — that a spider sheds each time it grows larger.
They were like a set of nesting dolls. You know the kind that sit one inside the other? Each one slightly larger than the one before it.
I imagine this spider found a comfortable gig in the wood pile — food nearby and a quiet spot to “change clothes” when it outgrew the last set.
It’s not unusual to find a single exoskeleton. But so many in one spot isn’t common here.
