We are one day past the solstice.
The year’s darkest corner has been turned
and I can feel my spirits lift.
Fresh snow fell this week
and in the woods
silence hangs thick upon the branches.
Sol plays hide-and-seek behind the trees
then suddenly flashes green and red.
Mother Nature’s Christmas card.
Mother Nature’s cards are the very best kind! Merry Christmas!

What an interesting phenomenon. Do you know what caused it? I can think of several explanations, including in-the-spirit-of-the-season elves. However it happened, it’s delightful, and makes a perfect Christmas card. Poinsettias are nice, but this is special.

Elves? How wonderful! I thought they might have gone south with the geese but perhaps they have merely taken shelter in the snow.

I agree. Some days it’s hard to keep up with everything. I’d like to post more and follow more blogs but the 24-hour days somehow seems to shrink as we get older! “See you” in the new year. š
