An early morning walk
Took me along the dew-damp ditch
Past barbwire and sleepy cows.
Stooped to see the flowers
Pink and blue
Discover dandelion seeds
Among the spider silk and tiny hairs.
Common dandelion Taraxacum officinale
Tall lungwort Mertenisa paniculata
floods the heart with joy.
— just this —
Willow Salix spp.
In a world of growing chaos and uncertainty
Beauty and order still reside in small corners.
Seek them out.
Beauty is so often synonymous with youth — new, fresh, alive.
We seldom look long at the aged. At the wrinkles. The lines. The age spots.
Unpleasant reminders of our own frailty.
If we could reframe our definition perhaps we would find grace even in old age.
